Vascular Surgeon
Professor Ramesh Tripathi is an internationally recognised Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with a distinguished career in both clinical practice and academic medicine. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Queensland and an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
He completed his MBBS at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Pondicherry, India, before obtaining FRCS in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, an Aortic Fellowship at the University of Cologne, Germany and FRACS in Vascular Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Professor Tripathi has pioneered numerous vascular procedures, including performing India’s first Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (EVAR) and Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (TEVAR) in 1998, and later introducing the first Talent on Xcelerent TEVAR device in Australia and New Zealand in 2005. He is also credited with inventing and describing two techniques of deep vein valve repair.
With more than 90 peer-reviewed articles in major journals, 17 textbook chapters and editing three books, Professor Tripathi is a leading voice in vascular surgery worldwide. He has delivered over 230 invited lectures internationally and holds multiple visiting professorships at prestigious institutions, including Stanford University, Mayo Clinic, Karolinska University Hospitals and the University of Lisbon.
Beyond his professional achievements, Professor Tripathi devotes time each year to pro-bono surgical work for underprivileged communities in India and leads the Venous Ulcer Foundation in Australia, supporting patients with venous disease globally.
