Brisbane South Private Hospital is pleased to offer EEG services, provided by Precision EEG, from our Level 6 Specialist Suites.
Our EEG services are performed by experienced Neuroscientists and reported by expert Neurologists, ensuring patients receive high-quality care in both clinic and home settings.
Overview of EEG Services
Our Service
An EEG is a safe, non-invasive test that records the brain’s electrical activity. It can detect changes that may assist in the diagnosis and assessment of epilepsy and other neurological conditions.
Your referring doctor will request the type of EEG study best suited to your clinical needs.
Types of EEG services for patients of all ages:
- Routine – 30 minutes
- Sleep deprived / Nap 60 minutes
- Ambulatory – No Video
- In-Home – Video Monitoring
EEG Services information
Personalised EEG care
Routine and sleep EEGs are performed in our clinic and include activation procedures such as hyperventilation (deep breathing) and photic stimulation (flashing lights), where clinically appropriate. Ambulatory and in-home video EEGs are set up in the clinic before patients return home with the monitoring equipment. Our experienced Neuroscientists provide comprehensive instructions and ongoing support throughout the recording period.
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Purpose: Baseline assessment of brain activity in the awake state
Duration: 45–60 minutes
Purpose: A Sleep Deprived / Nap EEG increases the likelihood of detecting abnormal brain activity.
Duration: 2 – 7 days
Purpose: Ambulatory EEG (without video) and video EEG monitoring are extended diagnostic EEG studies that record the brain’s electrical activity to capture seizures and other clinically relevant events in the patient’s usual home environment.
