Dr Nathan El-Atem

Dr Nathan El-Atem is a highly skilled Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with advanced training in both dentistry and medicine. His expertise spans orthognathic (jaw) surgery, surgery for obstructive sleep apnoea, temporomandibular joint disorders, oral surgery, dental implants, bone grafts and wisdom tooth extraction.

He completed a Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc) and a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, followed by a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) at Queensland University of Technology. Dr El-Atem gained early surgical experience at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital before moving to Melbourne to undertake specialist training at leading institutions including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Austin Hospital, Monash Health and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.

After obtaining his specialist surgical qualifications, Dr El-Atem pursued further training in orthognathic and temporomandibular joint surgery through a KLS Martin Fellowship at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Now based back in Queensland to be closer to family and friends, Dr El-Atem welcomes new patients with short waiting times. Known for his approachable and personable nature, he is always happy to assist with pre- and post-referral enquiries to ensure patients and referrers feel supported throughout the care journey.
