Dr Rajitha Koman

Dr Rajitha Koman is an experienced General Paediatrician with more than 12 years of experience in child health. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for children with complex and chronic health needs, working closely with families to support each child’s wellbeing and development.

Dr Koman completed her medical degree at Calicut University in India in 2004, followed by postgraduate training in General Paediatrics at the Institute of Child Health, Madras Medical College, in 2011. She later achieved a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health Division).

She received extensive training in General Paediatrics and subspecialties at Queensland Children’s Hospital and has also worked at Mater Mother’s Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital, Redlands Hospital, Ellen Barron Family Centre and Mackay Base Hospital. Dr Koman further developed her expertise through a fellowship in the Neurology Department at Queensland Children’s Hospital, where she cared for children with conditions such as epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders and cerebral palsy.

Dr Koman also has valuable experience in Child Developmental Services with Children’s Health Queensland, assessing and supporting children with complex developmental and behavioural needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties and global developmental delay.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Koman holds a consultant position at Redcliffe Hospital and a casual Senior Medical appointment at Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane. She is actively involved in teaching and research, reflecting her commitment to advancing knowledge and improving paediatric care.
